Not Another Vampire Story by Sakurapu introduces us to Terry, described
as mouth-wateringly handsome and suave. He also manages to be sweet and thoughtful. Young Sylvia was sure, even without glitter
and hair gel to make his hair oh so perfect, that her sister Julia was indeed dating a vampire. Not only was she dating the
vampire, but she did not seem to mind at all that he was a vampire.
This is most certainly what I would call a Young Adult book and when you read it (if you are an
adult) you should keep that in mind. With that said, it was a fun little romp that tosses in teen girls and vampires which
seem to be one of the hottest things in YA books these days. Sylvia made me laugh several times and I think if I had to pick
one character she would be my favorite, but all of them were enjoyable. There were a few times that the plot seemed to struggle
a little bit to keep purpose but that is my only complaint. I think if you are someone who enjoys Young Adult vampire stories
and a little bit of a laugh you will like this book. It is engaging, witty, and not afraid to poke a little fun here and there
at its own genre (at least that’s what I took away from it). It might not be the next great American novel but it is
fun entertainment and that makes it worth the read for me.
